At CLE, we believe that learning doesn't only happen in a classroom. Whether gained through previous academic study or years of hands-on workplace experience, your prior achievements should count toward your future success.
Our Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process is a formal way of acknowledging what you already know — ensuring you can progress through CLE programmes efficiently without repeating content you have already mastered. Because our descriptors focus on the results of learning, we are able to evaluate your prior background against our specific unit outcomes.
CLE defines programme levels by mapping the requirements for knowledge and skills against the sophisticated standards of the modern workplace. Because our descriptors focus on the results of learning — the actual competencies you have achieved — we are uniquely positioned to evaluate your prior background against our specific unit outcomes.
This outcomes-focused philosophy means that whether your learning took place in a lecture theatre, a boardroom, or on the job, it can be formally assessed for recognition within the CLE programme structure.
There are two primary routes through which prior learning can be recognised — the Academic Route and the Professional Route — ensuring that RPL is accessible to both formally qualified applicants and experienced practitioners alike.
To ensure every learner is placed on the right path, CLE offers two primary routes for mapping prior learning to our programme structure.
If you hold prior qualifications or certifications, CLE can map your previous modules against our programme structure — identifying units you may be exempt from and determining the most appropriate entry point.
CLE highly values mature learners who bring relevant work, supervisory, or management experience. By reviewing your professional history, CLE can determine how your on-the-job expertise aligns with unit descriptions.
The RPL process is designed to be straightforward and evidence-based — ensuring a fair, rigorous evaluation of your prior learning against CLE's unit outcomes.
You provide copies of your existing certificates, transcripts, or a detailed professional CV that documents your relevant experience and responsibilities.
Our academic team evaluates your evidence against the Knowledge and Skill Descriptors of the relevant CLE programme, unit by unit. If you are enrolled through one of our Strategic Delivery Partners, the mapping is undertaken by the partner institution in accordance with CLE's approved assessment framework.
We identify which units you may be exempt from, or which level is the most appropriate starting point for your individual journey — providing a tailored study plan.
RPL isn't just a shortcut — it's a formal recognition of the genuine capability you have already developed throughout your career.
Reduce the time needed to complete your diploma by focusing only on new learning. RPL allows you to progress more efficiently, without revisiting content you have already mastered through study or practice.
Formalise the skills you have spent years developing in the workplace. RPL turns professional achievement into a recognised credential — giving your experience the formal standing it deserves.
Ensure your study plan is tailored specifically to your existing professional profile. RPL means your CLE journey starts exactly where your knowledge ends — not at the beginning.
